National Claims Administration Services (NCAS), based in Owings Mills , MD., has successfully served the self-insured groups in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and North Carolina for the past 20 years. NCAS provides a full line of claims and eligibility services, and specializes in identifying, contracting with and providing full access to national, regional and local PPO networks for its clients.

Challenge

With approximately 300 clients and 220,000 members nationally, NCAS processes more than 2,000,000 claims a year. Constantly searching for efficiency and process improvement, NCAS looked to Healthaxis® for a business solution to better manage its enrollment process.

Solution

Healthaxis® provided NCAS with WebAxis Enroll, a Web-based software application that allows employees to enroll for benefits online. According to Hunter Group HR Self-Service Survey, Web-based enrollment can save administrators 60% compared to a manual process. Healthaxis® acted as a business partner, getting to the core of NCAS' business needs - then developing the right technology solution and then seeing it through to successful implementation.

Results

All the census and enrollment election data from WebAxis Enroll was loaded directly into the eligibility and billing system through a fully automated process, providing immediate access from any of three NCAS office locations and through the Web. The result was satisfaction on the part of the employees and cost and time-savings for NCAS. "We received great feedback from employees," said account manager Gregory Maupin. "They really liked the fact that they didn't have to deal with a bunch of papers and they could enroll at home in the evenings or at 6 a.m. It was very convenient for them."
